F. Carulli works for guitar - fortepiano |
|
|
[…] Leopoldo
Saracino and Massimo Palumbo recorded the
complete works for guitar and piano by Ferdinando
Carulli […] The intervention of Saracino
and Palumbo seems to be decisive for the whole
understanding of Carulli […] But is
due to the art of the two performers if in
these three first volumes comes out with energy
–even more incredible if we think at
the particular instrumental matching –
all the versatility and the tension of the
style already near to the eighteen century,
but as were attracted
from a unknown force, feels the early romantic
impulse.[…]

[…]Leopoldo Saracino
and Massimo Palumbo play respectively a “Guadagnini”
guitar of 1823 and a Fortepiano from Wien of
the same years, and the sound is unforgettable
for its transparency and evocative force: the
guitar has a sharper sound compared to most
modern guitars, and has with Saracino a graceful
dynamism and, where needed intense singing tones.

36 Capricci for guitar by Luigi Legnani |

“[…] The
36 Capricci by Legnani are one of the most beautiful
virtusic pieces of the nineteen century guitar
repertoire. […] Saracino, who plays an
original guitar of the early ‘800, give
a clear and careful interpretation, with the
aim to get over all the musicality of the pieces.”)

[…] Leopoldo Saracino present us the 36
pieces with the versatile spirit that belong
to the various expressive moments of the eclectic
genre of the Capricci: in this way is to understand
the bright sound of the trebles, the abilizy
to make sound clearly

uncommon and difficult keys
for the guitar, the meditative and soft sound
of the more romantic pieces, the virtuosity. […]
Altogether a highly interesting recordings. […]
With this the guitarist from Milan gave a contribute
to demonstrate that to give up from the mixed
recital Cds (with different composers and various
compositions) does not means give up to show the
virtuoso possibility of the performer but on the
contrary test his real quality in a complete way.
This was what we really expected from Saracino.”)
